May 1 Community Meeting: Bystander Intervention to stop anti-Asian and xenophobic harassment

Please join our community meeting on Monday, May 1st from 6:30-8:00pm. Right to Be trainers Dax Valdes and Emily Ku will conduct bystander intervention training, sponsored by RTR, to stop anti-Asian and xenophobic harassment. Those who have attended a Right to Be training know this is not to be missed! Register today!

Further, RtR is pleased to announce that we are offering participants options of meeting in person or online.


Those who wish to attend in person on May 1, may do so at the Lake Oswego United Church of Christ, 1111 Country Club Road Lake Oswego, OR 97034. We’ll watch the training together onscreen, and then gather for discussion and snacks!

Dax Valdes (he/him) is an actor, choreographer, director, and teaching artist based in NYC.


In his time with Right to Be, Dax has trained over 150,000 people around the world. Currently, he is an actor with Only Make Believe – a non-profit organization that creates and performs interactive theater for children in hospitals and care facilities and on faculty with the Art of Science Learning.

Emily Ku is the Anti-Hate Response Coordinator at Asian Americans Advancing Justice, where she implements the organization’s vision and strategic initiatives focused specifically on supporting community members and organizations impacted by anti-Asian hate through community education, field outreach, and advocacy. Most recently, Emily co-authored a free children’s book addressing anti-Asian hate, Young, Proud and Sung-jee.
